Dr Rich Stevenson BSc MSc PGDip PhD

Dr Rich Stevenson is a Human Physiologist and Research Fellow in the Department for Health at the University of Bath having joined the University in December 2018. Prior to that, Rich worked as the Senior Health & Fitness Adviser for South Wales Fire & Rescue Service for 15 years.
Rich has worked in a consultancy capacity on numerous projects related to firefighter fitness and well-being over the last 2 decades including the Government’s National Firefighter Selection Tests, the Normal Age Pension Review for Firefighters and the Home Office’s Firefighter Fitness Best Practice Guide as well as working with a number of UK Fire & Rescue Services to develop their fitness management procedures.

Professor James Bilzon BSc MSc PhD

James is a Professor of Human and Applied Physiology at the University of Bath and an internationally leading authority on Occupational and Environmental Physiology. Prior to joining the University of Bath in 2008 he was a Ministry of Defence Human Scientist, where he worked as a Higher Scientific Officer at the Institute of Naval Medicine (1995-2002) and Senior Scientific Advisor to the Headquarters Army Recruiting and Training Division (2002-2008).
James has led and supervised programmes of research to develop and implement Physical Employment Standards (PES) for the Royal Navy, British Army, Parachute Regiment, Royal Marines and the UKFRS.
